    Microsoft.windows.shellexperiencehost Not Installed Correctly

Aug 04, 2018  Other than creating a New User Profile, is there any other means of resetting the Start Menu to work correctly (i.e., start menu, search and notifications do not open). There are a significant amount of files on the PC with this problem, and frankly do not have the time to. May 21, 2016  Error: 'Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost' and 'Microsoft.Windows.Cortana' applications need to be installed correctly.' On Windows 10 Once again I have trouble with the Start menu not working. This time I have followed on of the instructions to recover it.

Jul 22, 2016 - ShellExperienceHost' and 'Microsoft.Windows.Cortana' applications need to be installed correctly, but that's nothing that I didn't. Error 0x80070003: Creating the system metadata directory C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindows. Deck, I finally found the problem: the Packages directory was not present. I also got this message “Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost” and “Microsoft.Windows.Cortana” applications need to be installed correctly. Like Ian, I now I need to figure out how to fix this problem on my own. Thanks Microsoft.

Just noticed something, wonder if it's significant. Did everyone go from 16299.0 to 16299.19 pretty much in short order? I did, yet a closer look at the snip showing the error dated shows an incorrect winver. Looking in Settings/Updates/Update History, all previous histories have been wiped, showing kb 4043961 was installed along with a flash update.

I clearly recall these were 'installed' (albeit w/initial failures) much earlier than that. Plus, the -61 kb would have brought your winver to.19, correct?

Methinks something smells. Beyond my grasp, I'll wait.Add: if multiple others hadn't reported the same issue after a clean installation, I would've done this by now. A repair install didn't cure it here. Still unsure, I'll give it another week or so.

Click to expand.Same here. Based on everything I've been able to determine, that appears to be 'normal' where the KB4043961 (build 16299.19) update has been incorporated into the initial W10 v1709 installation process. However, running SFC /SCANNOW did seem to find a lot of minor inconsistencies, but it cleaned up all of them in my case.

I ran SFC after the had finally been unblocked and had run once.P.S.: Changing the default display language (Settings Time & Language Region & Language) to something else, logging out and back in, and then changing it back again often seems to clear up W10 menu and other display issues. You need to have more than one language pack installed to do that, of course. This is a clean installation, now have two DCOM errors at startup, at least two, and these are ShellExperienceHost-related which means you can't change permissions. Floods of Whea logger warnings due to a corrupt Qualcom Atheros driver that won't leave me alone.

Edge stuck at the home page with CPU at 13%-svs host state repository service. Read about half this thread before my mind just wandered off. What elaborate 'workaround' now?-unplugging the Ethernet cable during clean install #3? This Fall upgrade is really something, it really is.

So I updated to Windows 10 Anniversary yesterday using the Windows Update Assistant, and when my computer restarted I had issues doing anything with my files, so I claimed ownership of my entire C drive, and gave full access to my user account. Now I can't use the start menu, Edge, Calculator, Store, or any apps. I have 1 program I need to remove that I can't.

Explorer works fine, as does the taskbar, task manager, and all other features, but I can't use the start menu or the other programs!I've run the Start Menu Repair from Microsoft, but it gives me the following errors:PrintStart Menu Publisher details. As listed on the site linkedPersonally I wouldn't do a reset, if the download was corrupted for some reason ( happens quite a bit Via the Windows Update Assistant if direct and not via a ISO) then it will simply put back the corruptions as you already have.Keep in mind - doing a reset you'll lose the option to roll back to the previous install as well. You can uninstall your graphic Drivers as well, as sometimes they can cause problems.

This is driving me nuts!I'm now aware it wasn't the best decision.

What would you suggest I do to change it back?My reg file export can be seen at. Is this right? I selected it in Regedit and did File-ExportSo I got 'Windows did not find any integrity violations' back from the DISMI can't even work out how to get to Windows Update to see if there's any updates for me to install. So any suggestions around this would be much appreciated.I'll try the graphics drivers option as well. Thanks as always WT. The Reg list is just what I was looking forJust doing some cross checking on another W10 to compare with mine that I'm on now., there are some entries which have been turned off in yours (somehow).BRBThanks! I tried the graphics driver, added the `EnableXamlStartMenu` and managed to get into my settings to run windows update and apply that but still no luck. The Start menu still isn't loading, and Calculator and Store open as a shell and crash again. Edge and Photo Viewer don't even load, I just get an error message on screen saying the app couldn't load.Looking forward to what you can find.

Fingers crossed. Ok just checked on SWMBO W10 and most are the same as mine, with the exception I have a few more. The list below is how mine is listed. (In the quote)The entry HideFileExt is only saying that, hide file extensions, not important.Don't know what will happen, but double check what's listed below with what you have, change to the same. If I were doing it in the workshop I'd make a restore point first, if it turns even worse then it can be rebooted either by DVD or recovery and use system restore to undo any changes. The ones that are different are Hidden,TaskbarAnimations, NavPaneShowAllFolders.TaskbarStateLastRun ( leave this its different on most PC's)I did merge your file into a workshop PC ( made a restore point first) trying to break it - couldn't break it, worked fine as before.

Hmm, no luck I have run that troubleshooter.

Windows Shell Experience Host Stopped Working

My results are in the quote on my initial post.Unfortunately I also can't make a new account or change my account because the pop-ups to do this crashAfter some more digging I'm most certainly not the only one with the issue. Microsoft still don't have a fix by the sound of it, so I may just have to grin and bear it for a couple of weeksThanks for all the help!
